Is Pinnacle Rubber Mulch safe for children and pets?
Yes, absolutely. Pinnacle Rubber Mulch is 100 percent non-toxic and environmentally friendly. Multiple government and third-party studies have proven that recycled rubber is safe.
How much Rubber Mulch will I need?
You can use our Coverage Calculator (also found in the left column of each page of the site) to calculate how much Rubebr Mulch you will need for your project. If you are using our Rubber Mulch as a Playground Safety Surface, the depth necessary will vary based on the height of your equipment. A 6" depth is certified for 16' of Fall Height Protection. Landscaping uses can usually be accomplished using a 2"-3" depth.
Where does the rubber come from?
Pinnacle Rubber Mulch is made of 100 percent recycled tires collected and processed by Liberty Tire Recycling, the nation’s leading tire recycler.
Does recycled rubber emit an odor?
No. Usually within 48 hours of installation any odor is gone.
Will Pinnacle Rubber Mulch erode?
No. Even in areas prone to erosion, Pinnacle Rubber Mulch will not wash out because it is heavier than wood mulch.
How long will Pinnacle Rubber Mulch hold its color?
In most environments, Pinnacle Rubber Mulch will not fade for up to 12 years.
How do I maintain Pinnacle Rubber Mulch?
Simply use a leaf blower to remove yard debris.
Does Pinnacle Rubber Mulch freeze?
No. Pinnacle Rubber Mulch does not absorb water, so it will not freeze.
What kind of insulation does it provide?
Pinnacle Rubber Mulch keeps soil 10 degrees cooler in the summer and 10 degrees warmer in the winter.
Is Pinnacle Rubber Mulch dirty?
No. Pinnacle Rubber Mulch is colored using a licensed process, which seals the rubber after the color is applied. Children will even stay clean while playing on Pinnacle Rubber Mulch in the rain.
Will Pinnacle Rubber Mulch cause stains?
No. Unlike organic mulching materials, Pinnacle Rubber Mulch will not stain clothes or cement.
Is rubber mulch a superior shock-absorbing safety surface material?
Yes. A 6-inch layer of Pinnacle Rubber Mulch will cushion a child’s fall from as high as 16 feet – better than all other loose surface materials, according to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and numerous state and private agencies.

Can I save money on shipping by picking up my Rubber Mulch purchase myself?
Yes. In addition to our shipping partnership with UPS, we maintain multiple locations throughout the United States, and a growing number in Canada, where you can pick up your order. A list of these locations can be found on our Rubber Mulch Shipping page. Keep in mind that color availability may differ by location, and that you will be responsible for securing a vehicle capable of handling your purchased quantity.
Is Pinnacle Rubber Mulch flammable?
Pinnacle Rubber Mulch is not flammable. Tire chips were tested in 1995 in accordance with the Federal Hazardous Substance Act to determine whether this material would be considered "flammable" (a material is considered flammable if it ignites and burns with a self-sustained flame at a rate greater than 0.1 inches per second along its major axis). Per these test results, scrap tire material is considered non-flammable.
What if a child swallows a rubber chip?
If a piece of rubber is swallowed, it should not cause any acute or chronic problems. Short-term issues, such as an upset stomach will be a function of the amount of rubber swallowed. As to the fate of the rubber chips swallowed, they are eventually evacuated from the body, just like any other non-digestible material.
Has Pinnacle Rubber Mulch been certified by any outside agencies?
Pinnacle Rubber Mulch meets all of the criteria established by the International Playground Equipment Manufacturers Association. Pinnacle Rubber Mulch is also compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Maryland is conducting studies using rubberized asphalt, rubberized natural grass athletic fields, rubber mulch, and green roofing.
