Eco-Friendly
Recycling tires saves millions of used tires from ending up in landfills every year. According to the Rubber Manufacturers Association, 89.3 percent of the scrap tires generated in the United States are recycled and reused.
When tires are recycled into decorative landscape mulch, it becomes one of the best investments for the environment. Not only are millions of tires returned to the market, but millions of trees are saved from the shredder.
The technologies used to clean, process, and convert tires into Pinnacle Rubber Mulch create a material that is non-allergenic and harmless to plants, pets and children – without depleting our natural resources.
Pinnacle Rubber Mulch qualifies for environmental grant programs nationwide.
How It's Made
A tire is comprised of three major components: rubber, steel, and fiber. Because just the rubber component of a tire is desired in mulch, LTR Products developed an innovative process that produces a 99.99% metal-free product.
The first step in converting whole tires to rubber mulch is size reduction. Tires are reduced in size by a series of specially-designed shredders and granulators. As the material is cut and reduced in size, fiber and metal are removed. A series of high-intensity magnets and metal detectors attract and remove the metal. Special-purpose air handling equipment is used to remove dust and fibers.
Once the tires are reduced to the proper size, and metal and fiber have been removed, our proprietary polyurethane coating is applied. This durable coating provides a long-lasting finish that is guaranteed to last for years.
